Though Wayne is undeniably more popular as of right NOW, he still lyrically can’t hold a candle to Jay. And when you add the fact he’s an admitted Jay-Z clone (among biting numerous others as well), I couldn’t in good conscience say he’s the better emcee.
-Nas over Scarface
Hard decision here, but I give the overall edge to Nasir. However, it should be noted that Face wins hands down in terms of consistency throughout his career, and losing here should not be considered a bad thing.
Sidenote: I love Nas, but ‘Nigger/Untitled’ was a definite letdown.

-Mobb Deep over UGK
Another hard one. Since I have to judge them as a group, the Mobb wins only because I’m more familiar with their body of work. I think Hav and P compliment each other well. UGK, on the other hand, lose because of Pimp C. Much respect to him, and God rest his soul, but I can’t say I was a fan.
Bun on the other hand, I fucks with, heavy. I wish I could vote for just him here.
-The Roots vs. Outkast
My Hip-Hop wont let me vote one way or another here. Though, Black Thought is my #1 emcee of all time.
-Wu-Tang Clan over Cash Money
The Wu gets this one easy, and it’s not even close. Any of the top guns from the Wu (Mef, Ghost, Rae etc) would rap circles around anyone on the Cash Money roster. Easily.
In my mind, these two aren’t even comparable in terms of lyrical ability, or commercial success.

Curtis was never really much of a “rapper,” but dude knows knew how to keep people talking about him.
He loses here because he’s too one-dimensional. If it ain’t about busting guns, it’s about his ‘magic stick’. Shit is way past redundant now.
Tip on the other hand has easily been one of the best the game has to offer over the past years, and though his catalogue lost some points for ‘TI vs Tip’ it sounds like he’s still climbing.
-Luda over Lupe
I hate having to vote on this one. Lupe brings the heat on everything you hear him on, but he’s so “new” it’s hard to compare him to Luda. So that’s where he loses.
But on the note of Luda, am I the only one that thinks he’s probably the longest tenured MC in the game that HASN’T made a classic album yet?
I doubt Hip-Hop would ever forget him, but he needs that ‘one’ before I can call him a legend.

Sure lyrical acrobatics aside with some of Nas’ classic shit…I can’t say that Scarface does not beat him hands down in concepts, realness and content.
