Life is a trip…on the first official day of Black History Month my old job decided to let the one brother who broke the color barrier in their whole marketing department go on some sneaky shit. So I’ve been unemployed since then. As a matter of fact I sent so many online applications out, that I probably applied for the same positions several times over. I didn’t get a legitimate interview for SEVEN MONTHS and when I finally got interviews, I had to wait for a month before some asshole in HR calls to say “unfortunately Mr. Brown, we decided to go with another candidate…”
For real, son? You coulda told a nigga that shit after week 1 so I could have got some fresh air and not wait by the phone during your fuckin hours of operation, cocksucker!
To make matters hella bad, the Commonwealth of PA decides due to all the niggas loafing off government benefits decides to only give unemployment compensation for 6 months, because as they say “the unemployment rate has not increased enough to warrant extensions”…
Yeah…of course the unemployment rate is down assholes- new McDonald’s and Wal-Marts are popping up cold sores on Mike Vick after he forgot his Valtrex…but I digress.
And right before I was considering pulling a Bobby Taylor and working at the post office (bonus points to anyone who knows that inside shit)…I get a call and a job offer. I start work in November ironically around the corner from where I used to work.
In the meantime, I got a temp job working for a cool company that actually serves beer to its employees on Friday afternoons in the cafeteria (yes Twin, even Coronas). But why did I just hear they no longer need my services after today?…if I can find that storage where they keep the Coronas…I’m getting my severance…fuck that.

I wasn’t laughing last night though. Dude sent me an EMAIL saying “we don’t need you services anymore after Tuesday”. But he was a few feet away and sent it to my desk WHERE HE KNEW I WASN’T AT, and then asks at like 3:30 about the email.
His boss was real cool and spoke to me letting me know that the work load is hella light for some reason, this fuck decides to dress as a dude w/ female organs for Halloween or some shit.
I was actually feeling this gig too…there’s folks who just take pics all day and enhance them on photoshop, dress code is non existent…and BEER on Fridays. But then there’s also a reason why folks are quitting. Too many vaginal ass folks in here.

Might just be working fast food, janitorial, etc…

For example, my baby cousin worked at McDonald’s after he graduated highschool and complained about that, NEVERMIND the fact that he wasn’t going to college and decided to move outta the house tryin to be grown. Now he’s got a factory job making better money, but prolly gonna be a lifer up in that bitch because of that.

I was about to work a bullshit job just to help pay some bills until something came along, but the fact is that Philly keeps losing jobs.
I watched the same shit happen in New Orleans. I left in 1990…by the time I came back in ‘95, it had become the murder capital. A lot of the black folks that could get decent jobs had to go to ATL or Houston. If you ever visited there, you see more people in hotel and casino uniforms than in office attire.
I was a mentor while in college, and I used to see mad kids drop out the program and hustle to feed the fam…
I’m not saying give niggas 30k outta high school, but folks have nothing to shoot for…

I never worked in fast food. I went to catholic high school so I ended up getting a job through “christian services” in a senior citizens home. You couldn’t tell me shit making $7 to read to old blind people and play checkers. I actually ended up staying there after high school because I felt like I actually was doing something important.
