So is McNabb’s point legit or pure bullshit?
I would have to raise my hand for LEGIT.
Three Examples:
Washington Redskins gives Jason Campbell 2 to 3 starts to see if he is worthy of the top spot… - 2 or 3? How many would an Alex Smith or Brady Quinn get you think?
Joey Harrington sucks…but not on his own - the offensive line does not protect him. He does not stand a chance in the pocket. Duuuuhhhhh didn’t we try to tell you this when Vick was QB? I know we did, but that was not the case. All the analytical football pundits made sure that the reason the Falcons were losing was b/c of Vick’s lack of leadership at the QB position - had nothing to do with the old antique offensive line.
Eli Manning is HURT so any mistake he makes is blamed on his poor shoulder - lack of talent never crosses the mind of espn or sports illustrated; but McNabb a vet, a injured guy, post surgery - just does not have what it takes anymore - it has nothing to do with his surgery, right? Riiiiiggggghhhhhtttttt.
McNabb made a good point. Even in mediocre jobs monorities (esp Blacks) have to perform at a much higher level b/c you are under more scrutiny than your white counterparts; if you don’t believe that - sell me a ticket to Fantasy Island where you vacation!

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Donovan McNabb smiled when a reporter asked for his opinion on the upcoming opponent and pumped his fist when the next question was about his poor start.
Once the topic switched to McNabb’s comment about black quarterbacks, his mood changed quickly.
In a bizarre interview that ended with McNabb walking off the podium at the Philadelphia Eagles practice facility Wednesday, the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback reiterated his statement on HBO that black QBs face greater scrutiny than their white counterparts.
“It’s just reality,” McNabb said. “It’s something that I’ve been a part of and other quarterbacks before and after me have been a part of. Did I expect any backlash? Yeah. Everything I say, I expect backlash from it.”
McNabb displayed a variety of emotions while getting peppered with questions on the race issue. He was perplexed and defensive — and looked more uncomfortable than he does standing in the pocket on his surgically repaired knee under a heavy rush.
“People are trying to dig too deep in this whole situation,” he said. “I wasn’t pinpointing particular people. What I said was the fact that we (black QBs) have to do a little extra. No matter the style of play you’re displaying, there’s always going to be criticism.”
Asked if any quarterback was criticized more than Chicago’s Rex Grossman last year, McNabb said: “I wouldn’t know.”
He then mentioned Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Hall of Famer Steve Young and Jake Plummer.
“I never said Peyton doesn’t get criticized. I never said Carson doesn’t get criticized. I never said Tom doesn’t get criticized, because they do,” McNabb said. “They talked about Peyton not winning the big game. They talked about Tom Brady and his baby and girlfriend. We get criticized a little differently.”
Pressed for specific examples, McNabb pointed to being a running quarterback.
“Nobody ever talked to Steve Young about the running quarterback situation and Jake Plummer,” he said.
McNabb has always been sensitive about being labeled a running quarterback. He considers himself someone who passes first and runs only out of necessity.
“You wouldn’t ask somebody else the questions we get asked,” McNabb said, declining to reveal those questions.
The 30-year-old McNabb is in his ninth season with the Eagles after being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 1999 draft. He’s one of six black starting quarterbacks in the NFL. The others are David Garrard of Jacksonville, Vince Young of Tennessee, Steve McNair of Baltimore, Jason Campbell of Washington and Tarvaris Jackson of Minnesota.
“Black or white quarterbacks, we all go through something because that’s the life of a quarterback,” Vince Young said Wednesday after Titans practice. “You’ve got to be able to handle all the pressure. You’ve got to be able to handle the losses. You’ve got to be able to handle the media. If you can’t handle it, you’ve got to get off that position and go play something else.”
Young is the third black quarterback to start for the Titans franchise. The team won a bidding war to sign Warren Moon to a contract in 1984, drafted Steve McNair with the third pick overall in 1995 and selected Young in the same place in 2006.
Young said he respects every quarterback in the NFL and that everyone is entitled to his opinion.
“That’s not my fight to fight. Right now over here the Tennessee Titans, we’re trying to go to the playoffs. I can’t worry about all the other stuff going on,” Young said.
Less than 10 months since having surgery for a torn knee ligament, McNabb wasn’t sharp in Philadelphia’s first two games. He’s completed just 54.4 percent of his passes for 424 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His passer rating of 68.8 is 24th in the league. And he’s not scrambling like he used to because of the injury.
McNabb misfired badly on some throws against the Redskins, though he played better in the fourth quarter. Fans booed him during the game and some are even calling for rookie Kevin Kolb to be the starter.
The interview on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” took place in August, but was broadcast Tuesday night.
“If a question is asked, I’m going to answer it,” McNabb said. “I didn’t bring it up. The interview wasn’t about black-white issues, it was about my life. I didn’t do the interview 30 minutes after the game. The tease everybody has seen, they blew it way out of proportion.”
Eagles coach Andy Reid said McNabb’s comments aren’t a distraction for an 0-2 team that entered the season with high expectations.
“I don’t think anybody’s worried about that,” Reid said. “They’re worried about playing the game. That’s where our focus is.”
Several teammates declined to discuss the matter, though All-Pro safety Brian Dawkins supported McNabb’s comment.
“On a whole, that’s a fair assessment,” Dawkins said.

I agree with Mcnabb but no “boo hoo hoo” on my part. Its not like blacks being treated differently is an isolated incident homie… the difference is that you get paid millions for it and I gotta wake up at 4 am and manuever thru the same shit. You still a nigga… nigga !! You think because white kids are wearing your jersey that these crackas are gonna treat you different ?
But on the other side…. how many black quarterbacks are actually “good runners” as opposed to pocket passers ???
We run nigga !!!
Mcnabb can’t really think that his running ability isn’t a part of what makes him a great QB. If Peyton manning could run like Mcnabb, he’s be the greatest player ever hands down. If Mike Vick could pass like Manning, he’s be in the hall of fame RIGHT NOW.
The bottom line is that this nigga came off of surgery and he is looking crazy out there. Winning cleans all wounds and this nigga hasn’t won the big one yet. Peyton was “not clutch” until he got his last year.
September 20, 2007 @ 9:43 am
Eh…
I’ve never been a big McNabb fan anywayz…
but I can see his point about this being filmed a while back, and now the media is tryin to make it seem as though he’s throwin the ‘race card’ in an attempt to deflect criticism.
I read the original article a couple of days ago
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3025308
and it made NO MENTION that this interview was done during the pre-season.
Could be a casual oversight on the part of the writer…but if you read the comments, a whole bunch of people are saying McNabb should shut-up cuz he’s overrated…and of course ‘NO’ race has nothing to do with anything, ever.
September 20, 2007 @ 9:52 am
well, it’s like Bomani said in the AM jump yesterday:
“3 Why Do People Care If Donovan McNabb Thinks Black QBs Are Treated Differently?
Either it’s true or it’s not. It’s just that simple. Looking for a joke? Consider that most people acknowledge that racism is still a problem, but they rarely see any problem when someone presents an example of its existence. Now that’s really funny.”

September 20, 2007 @ 9:54 am
Hes my starting QB on my fantasy team so he better start putting up some damn numbers. But my point is that the criticism comes with the territory. Its almost like a superstar getting upset at the paparazzi. If he wins a Super Bowl, none of this is even brought up…maybe. Eli and Chad Pennington get slammed every day in NY papers because they suck.
And race will always be an issue regardless.
September 20, 2007 @ 9:57 am
I’m not a McNabb fan but he makes good points. Charles Barkley said it best, that if you take away last year’s SuperBowl, McNabb more of a winning QB than Peyton Manning. Yet it’s like even in the middle of Manning choking year in and year out, the mainstream media only made passing comments about it.
@Ihadno…you’re right fam. It isn’t like this is anything new. Black atheletes PERIOD get it worse. David Carr bummed it up for five years in Houston before he got shown the door. Leftwich did MUCH better in Jax but got four in before he was booted, and it’s an anomaly that he was give THAT much time.
September 20, 2007 @ 9:58 am
Don’t mean to flip the script but I posted this on another thread this morning…..
THIS DUDE IS STILL LOCKED UP !!!
50K people can fly and travel out there for a fucking march but they couldn’t donate 3 dollars each to get this kid out of that Adult prison?
Am I missing something here ?
This is why I can’t wear black….
This poor kid was in jail since January and all these “big wig” wannabees been asking for justice… why not put up the 90K for his bond just so he can at least be out of prison while his trial situation is detirmined ???
This is making me so damn mad……. Oprah… Sharpton….Mos Def…. its been on the radio and emails for the past couple of months… NOBODY COULDA PUT UP 90K FOR THIS KID ??????
WHAT THE JUSTICE SYSTEM DID TO HIM WAS HORRIBLE… BUT THE FACT THAT HE COULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF JAIL SINCE JANUARY IS EVEN WORSE….. AND WE HAVE NOBODY TO BLAME BUT OURSELVES FOR LETTING THIS POOR KID SIT IN THAT JAIL CELL FOR ALL THIS TIME.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:02 am
‘Am I missing something here ?’
I’m not in charge, so they’re fuckin up?
September 20, 2007 @ 10:05 am
At least they gave Leftwich job to another coon.
I talk shit about race as it relates and how we should be more accountable for the shit that we do. Of course we have it harder than whites. It ain’t gonna change. We can close the gap a bit as we have since the 60’s and so forth, but don’t ever think that your oppresor will be your savior. The same country that shitted on us for years isn’t gonna just up and make us equal. We have to deal with the cards we are dealt. That don’t mean that we have to sit back and take it but we don’t have to bitch and moan everytime some white person does something to us because we gonna lose our fucking voice after all the screaming. Al Sharpton went and visited this kid IN JAIL. HE IS STILL IN JAIL. WTF is 90K to all these “leaders” and activists. Its not like its a donation, you get the money back after trial. I am just shocked at US for letting this kid rot in jail while we round up the horses on some propaganda type shit. Everybody has a comment but won’t put their money where their mouth is. My main concern would be the mindstate and safety of that kid being locked up.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:07 am
Well to be fair, during McNabb’s best season, Payton still had better individual statistics.

Stats don’t mean a lot when you ain’t winning the big one. They gave McNabb 100million just like Vick and Peyton got. When they invest that much money into you, you have to produce a chip. Green is the other color involved in all of this.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:19 am
Now I for one am no big Eagles fan nor am I a McNabb fan… at first when i heard the story I was ready to clown him for saying shit like this in light of the Eagles record. But I do see where he is coming from. An its true but shit we already know that its not nothing new. So it really didnt need to be said.
An Ihadno we all know why nobody got together and bailed lil dude out…cause a muthafukka in chains would cause you to want to do more than to see him free chillin…. This aint nothing new.

With all this racial shit poppin off at the moment, Imma have to find a white woman to polish off this weekend.

September 20, 2007 @ 10:23 am
But this march may do a lot more than previous marches because of the town not being big enough for all the protestors. Its gonna wreak havoc and bring more attention so I can see where a march IN THIS SITUATION would start some type of change.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:25 am
‘all the protesters would have been forgotten about and left in the driveway…’
LMAO!…
Sit.Down.
‘True, but that’s irrelevant.’
Well if you’re not the ‘best’ at your position, you automatically open yourself up to criticisms and comparisons.
All the complaints about Peyton also go with having a shitty defense for years. McNabb on the other hand, has been on a team where every year the defense is touted.
It’s more ‘on’ McNabb than it was ever ‘on’ Peyton to win it. Although the media played up the whole ‘can Peyton win the big one’…it was never a question of him being inconsistent or losing games all on his own like Rex Grossman or somebody (Vick).
September 20, 2007 @ 10:28 am

I dont know about that one… for the last 5to6 years people have been picking the Eagles to come out of the NFC and go to the super bowl. Shit he went to 4 NFC championship games and won only 1 of them.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:33 am

You just reinforced my point.

Of course there will be columns where people are saying that. Thats how things are in this country. Like people are saying that all of a sudden he is pulling the race card…. WTF. Its not that he is doing that but he’s just telling the truth and we all know that some folks dont really want to hear the truth.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:43 am

Because some people will feel that way. White people have NO IDEA what its like to be judged against for the color of your skin so everytime they write about it, I don’t pay it too much attention. They benifit from racism in this country so you can’t expect an educated and experienced point of view from them unless they grew up the way most of did or at least have a connection with the black community that would render them an appropriate voice. But no too many white jounalist have that backround.
September 20, 2007 @ 10:48 am

September 20, 2007 @ 11:02 am
“But dudes like that dont last long on TV he will be the downfall of himself”
Dude has like the longest running show on cable news…and one of the highest rated.
I hate his ass too, but strangely hate Sean Hannity even more. Bill talks like he knows what he’s saying is bullshit.
Hannity on the other hand seems to really believe himself. Fuck em both.
@Willy
I disagree bruh. Peyton got off the hook (of criticism) because of the D, but if you watch the games…more often than not it’s because he would choke.
I think it was more ‘on’ Manning to win it because of the media’s eagerness to hop on his balls, and anoint him the next ‘best QB ever’. I mean, periodically even they need a break from the usual Brady dick sucking.
Imagine if/when McNabb wins it all, he wouldn’t even garner that type of consideration (as the best ever).
September 20, 2007 @ 11:03 am
Do taser me bro…. AHHHHHHHHHH
They shot his ass full of electrodes….I bet if that lil nigga brink right now the lighs will go off and on. But the cops were a lil over the top with it.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:05 am
‘Imagine if/when McNabb wins it all, he wouldn’t even garner that type of consideration (as the best ever).’
But why would he, when he isn’t the ‘best’ statistically?

(brett farve will be anointed as the ‘best ever’ once he retires)
That ole liquored up muthafukka… “Best drinker of BUD” An I Like Brett Farve but to me he hasnt did anything that spectacular. John Elway was way better but they never talk about him that way….except for the cite of Denver
September 20, 2007 @ 11:11 am
Mcnabb was barely the best “black QB” before Culpepper and Vick fell off. He gets injured every single year while Peyton and Farve hardly ever miss a game. It comes down to being dependable and if you miss 4 or 5 games a season, you arent’ dependable. It comes down to who you would choose to play for your favorite team and I am gonna take Peyton manning and Brett Farve before anybody that takes a snap at QB this year hands down. I would take Carson Palmer before Mcnabb also.
Sports is one arena where race doesn’t play a part in who I am a fan of.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:16 am
Most would say that John Elway is in every discussion as far as best ever but he won those 2 titles on the back of Terrell Davis so that where that comes from. Peyton was the best player on his Super Bowl team and so was Farvre. Elway although he had a great career, wasn’t the best player on his Super Bowl team. QB get recognition for leadership and when you aren’t the best player on a team, you don’t get as much credit and deservedly so.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:16 am
Well, the thing about Farve is he’s set to break a bunch of Marino’s records this season…gold standard as far as ESPN and them are concerned.
Was Elway better than Marino?
Eh…slight edge to Elway cuz he was mobile.
Since Farve is the same ‘type’ of QB Elway was, combined with the stats of Marino…makes a good case for being the ‘best’.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:18 am
‘Peyton was the best player on his Super Bowl team’
Marvin Harrison says:
Ya’ll gone miss me when I’m gone. (no T.O.)
September 20, 2007 @ 11:26 am
Marvin Harrison is a beast…..
September 20, 2007 @ 11:35 am
“But why would he, when he isn’t the ‘best’ statistically?”
You’re right, and I agree. I’m just making the point that when a black athlete succeeds it gets called a “team effort”, with the exception being the Michael Jordan’s of the world.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:37 am
But WR come a dime a dozen. You could put about 6 or 7 wr’s in Harrisons position and Peyton wouldn’t miss a step. Can’t say the same for Manning besides Farvre and Brady but they are hall of famers also.
But in defense of McNabb, he has never had a talent like Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison. Anthony Gonzalez, the rookie WR on the Colts, would be the best reciever on todays Eagles team so management has not done enough to bring in quality recievers. I don’t even consider TO being there because he was more of a detriment than help even though he is a beast.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:40 am
Mcnabb CARRIES his team heavy though. If you look at the talent on those good teams he played on over the last few years, that talent doesn’t come close to the talent on other teams that reached that level. Look at the horrible recievers he’s had to throw to with the exception of T.O.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:40 am
‘You could put about 6 or 7 wr’s in Harrisons position and Peyton wouldn’t miss a step.’
I doubt that.
‘I don’t even consider TO being there because he was more of a detriment than help even though he is a beast.’
But they made the Bowl off T.O.s back (ankle).
And dude showed up and played when all the analysts said he wouldn’t be able to do it…
September 20, 2007 @ 11:44 am
Nah i cant really say that McNabb really had a surrounding cast and no one really stepped up to be that go to guy… But that goes to management for not doing what it took to get him the best players possisible. An from what i see the Eagles are not to big on giving up money to players.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:46 am
Maybe TO saw something in McNabb that alot of us didnt see… I cant call it.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:47 am
Chad Johnson
Randy Moss
Torry Holt
T.O.
Steve Smith
just to name a couple.
I am not saying that they are better than Harrison, I am just saying that WR isn’t as important to a team as the person throwing them the ball. Career wise, I don’t think any reciever outside of Rice was more consistent than Harrison but all of those reciever I named above could duplicate what Harrison did for the Colts last year.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:52 am
But those are all Pro-Bowl quality WR…
you ain’t pluggin in just any old WR to replace Harrison.
And even then, the timing Harrison and Manning have isn’t something you can replicate without years of being together.
September 20, 2007 @ 11:53 am
‘An from what i see the Eagles are not to big on giving up money to players.’
Nope. It’s part of their ‘philosophy’…
September 20, 2007 @ 11:56 am
Nope. It’s part of their ‘philosophy’…
I dont see why other teams think that works cause it never does… on the other side you just cant buy the farm either… but the team with a good budget and good player will always do well
September 20, 2007 @ 11:59 am
@Willy..
I know that but they are of the same “caliber” as Harrison. It would be easier to replace Harrison than it would be to replace Manning.
Just like its a lot easier to replace Kobe than it is to replace Shaq. You put Wade in Kobe position and you have championship in Miami with Shaq but there is no one out there to replace a Shaq. Certain positions are harder to field than others and QB, just like NBA centers.
In basball, outfielders come a dime a dozen but starting pitching doesn’t.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:04 pm
‘It would be easier to replace Harrison than it would be to replace Manning.’
that’s wasn’t my argument…
if it’s just about the QB being more important than a WR, then yes, that is sometimes true…
But as far as Petyon being the better ‘player’ than Harrison…eh.
Kinda apples and oranges, but I bet you Harrison can throw a ball better than Peyton could run a route.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:12 pm
@Willy..
You are right about that. Peyton will prolly be looked among his QB peers in the same light as Harrison would be look upon his WR peers. It would be hard to figure out who is better between Peyton and Marvin since thier positions are hard to compare.
Wow…. its been a chick free day here today.

The same shit… cupid shuffle, duffle bag boy(i kinda like that one though), soulja boy…and that damn Missy and Keisha Cole song…Every time I get into the car that song comes on.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:47 pm
I don’t listen to any radio past about 5:30…
so it’s the usual bullshit…
JT, damn Daughtry, Fat boy who sings like he Jamaican, Rihanna…
I can’t call it.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:49 pm
Souljah Boy and Kiesha get ultimate run out here along with I Run NY all day long. That Red Cafe and Nina sky is getting big out here also.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:52 pm
Hey man, did you email that Red Cafe?
We’re just now starting to get that Keyshia shit…
I just saw the video yesterday on BET?
I was listening to that Jill Scott so I wasn’t about to pause my shit just for that.
September 20, 2007 @ 12:52 pm
@Willy…
I meant the urban stations…Don’t tell me that they play Daughtry on the “black” station..
Hot97 doesn’t play any of Rihanna’s “white songs”. The only song they play from her was Umbrella. I hate that goddamn BED joint also.

September 20, 2007 @ 1:00 pm
‘I meant the urban stations…’
We’re dominated by clear channel, and they do not see fit to provide the negros here with any ‘urban’ stations…
what they do is wait until the sun goes down (and the good white folk are safe at home) to play all the rap shit…
Clear Channel is like some Nazis when it comes to the daytime playlists.
What happens when the sun goes down, I don’t know, cuz I’m safe at home my damn self.
When I do happen to be listening to the radio, the DJs do do a decent job of playing that ‘real’ shit, also some of the local (midwest) acts as well.

I agree with that, but I am truly in awe that black people have finally started to take off the blind fold and actually see that we cant do nothing if we not unified.
I’m not evening touching the fact that all these rich ass people have not did or said anything to get this lil boy out of prison. Personally, I think that they should charge both sides with misdemeanor hate crimes to be fair. It wasnt right to hang the nooses and it wasnt right to stomp somebody unconcious (sp)…
Im just glad we finally standing for something with a real cause. And actually its the young people who are marching..that’s good!

ihnc (and anyone else bitching about ‘them; not bailing him out yet)
a few questions:
-how long you know about this?
-how much $ you have in your pocket?
-how many people you know/ can network to get to?
-WHY YOU DIDNT START A FUND YOUR DAMN SELF?
i swear i have heard that “fuck wearing black, why didnt SOMEONE bail him out” shit all day and i’m starting to get hella irritated. first of all, as much screaming as Al Sharpton does, as much $ as he spend on his perm.. NEWSFLASH- its not his responsiblity to bail that child out of jail. As much cake Jay got, as much as he spend on his watch habit- its not his responsiblity to bail him out of jail. As much pull as Oprah got, as many lives as she has stepped up to change- its not hers either.
now i sat here and listened to you say just yesterday that every man need to step up and pull themselves up and we shouldnt be looking for the rich folk to start a movement. well in that case, we cant look for thier money either. didnt you JUSt say (cliff notes) “get it yourself nigga” the other day… then let that boys family bail him out. and if its your opinion that we cant look to the handful of rich blacks to save the world, then that leaves the everyday man to
A- fix thier own problems themselves
or
B- actually start a real movement of change for themselves without waiting for the NAACP, rainbow coliation or *gasp* the government to start the giving for us.
ihnc- you were perfectly capable of hearing about that situation and starting to raise money thru mobilizing just YOUR contacts and insiping them to mobilize their contacts, etc to get the money and YOU be the force that bails him out. sitting back in a white tee b/c ‘they’ didnt bail him out and saying ‘this is whats wrong with niggas’ is the most ubsurd thing i have heard in my life.
dont complain if you dont do shit to fix it anyway.

If I had the 90k to get that lil boy out I would. I wouldnt sit on my rich ass and watch tv and eat cavier, and just comment on the shit for media attention, or better yet, not say anything at all.

Okay… clarification on the whole fundraising thing…
There is a Legal Defense Fund for the defendants:

David Bowie himself gave 10K to it.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iIs7BlqlbOcI-_Jj9tEmcWt-1×8g
But there doesn’t appear to be a fund to get the young nigga outta jail doe…
why haven’t they gotten this young man outta jail is my question?

————————
Well you obviously have lived a sheltered life if thats the worse that you’ve heard . I have my opinion and so do you. I don’t knock anyody for wearing black but its just not something that I am gonna support just because everybody else is doing it.
I just found out that this kid was eligible for bail since january a couple of days ago when they said that they were gonna try to post his bail… who is “they… I don’t know. Thats why the question even came in my head because I thought that he was still in jail because he was somehow denied bail. You seem to have an issue with a majority of the shit that i say and thats fine. But I could gauruntee(sp) you my goddman life that if i was anybodies millionaire, that kid would have been out a long time ago had I heard about it. You get bail money back.. its not like its a donation. \
I just don’t tapdance for anything. I am not a freedom fighter so I am not gonna half ass it and march every now and then. I am not gonna wear black for one day and then forget about it next week and move on with my life like anybody else.
You got people banging down door screaming and yelling of injustice but this kid is locked up because of that injustice and you gonna sit there and tell me that I am wrong for being upset that none of these big face attention getters could pull up 90K.
Believe me honey, if I had the 90K to give, son woulda been out. He is 16 years old in an adult prison. \Oprah can give free cars to her audience but she can’t get a copuple of her rich ass homies to pony up some dough for this dude.
Thats what we do when one of my homies gets locked up. We may not have the 5K but we put our yaks together to get him out.
People had to know that he was eligible for bail but it seems that never came out in the story until now ?
You ever ask yourself that question ?
September 20, 2007 @ 2:23 pm
An its a damn shame that David Bowie was one of the first to give and other blacks cant be found

I guess the family has requested that donations go directly here:
Jena 6 Defense Fund
P.O. Box 2798

NAH MEAN..
WTF is Persia talking about ???
September 20, 2007 @ 2:24 pm
trissa- nah honey, i’m not for one second saying is DOESNT take a village or that the rich in the community should turn a blind eye… my beef is people that sit back and do nothing but complain that someone that is doing well wont do it for them. why is it EVERYTIME something happens the first thing you hear from us is “well why __________ didnt send some bread?”
take Katrina for example. fuckked up sito, we know. most every blakc person with bread did something. a great number of black people doign well sent some…. too many with a little extra sent nothing and then some others took it as a free for all or a come up..
if it takes a village (which i beilive it does) then it takes the WHOLE village, not just the nice huts up the street. the sayign is right- if you arent a part of the solution, you are the problem. and too many people waiting for a handful to fix all the races ills is a HUGE problem.
September 20, 2007 @ 2:24 pm

damn it man- y’all get pissed quick. jay DOES help the community, sharpton DOES help the community, and oprah sure as FUCK helps the community.

This “bail” thing is the reason why we need to get the whole story instead of what is “sent” to us in emails and shit. I just found out that the kid that is in jails bail was set higher because he has 2 prior arrests for assault. I am not saying that this makes putting him in jail right but fact like that can’t be left out in order for us to have a “real” opinon on it because we need the whole story.
Nobody even mentioned that all of their attorneys are black also.

ihnc- you flippin and getting personal about how sheltered my life is doesnt change the argument. and yup, i disagree with you on quite a bit- but in the argument of get up and do it yourself and stop looking for a hand out from yesterday- i was with you 100%. my problem arose when it started being only about the celebs doing what we could easily do ourselves. they are not the only people with a personal responsiblity to fix things with a check. do they have greater means and may the rest of us not agree with thier spending patterns- yea. but i know my situation is better than the bum on the street and i do what i can in that aspect- but let that bum tell me to give him my cable money so he can rent a room for a week and i’ma flip on him. thats my hard earned money and i’ll spend how i feel i want to .. i dont know one person that wouldnt take offense to that example.
we all are capable of making a sacrifice for the greater good. if you are mad jay isnt donating the $2 he made of your cd purchase- dont buy his cd and take the whole $15 and send it to jena.. we all are able to make those decions, not just rich people
bottom line of my point (which i hope had been clear before this post) THE VILLAGE ISNT JUST THE RICH.. WE ALL HAVE RESPONSIBILITY AND CANT SKIRT IT BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN A BETTER POSTION.

everyone gets mad so and so didnt do something… but neither did they. and tomorrow night, they will be at the club, drink in hand saying “jena who? jena what?”. its sad.
ihnc- yes dear.. i’m aware those are not the only 3 rich blacks in america, thanks.
September 20, 2007 @ 2:49 pm
When I say get up and do it yourself, I don’t mean walk down the street and have no regard for whats going on around you. I meant that your focus should be to take care of yourself and family so you can build a foundation and THEN be able to help those in need. I can’t help you if I can’t help myself and I can’t help you if you don’t want to help yourself. You can’t ask me for welfare money if you ain’t willing to get up and find a job. You can’t ask me to support your children if you don’t put forth an effort to support them yourself. I can’t give a nigga a dime right now because I just ain’t got it.
How many songs were made in dedication to katrina. No… not verses or mentions… SONGS. JAYZ AND PUFFY>>> MARY AND MARIAH>>>> they couldn’t do something like ***gulp*** U2 and GREENDAY ?
U2 and GREENDAY song was the only mainstream song that I heard about katrina and that was supposedly OUR problem.
THIS IS WHY I DON”T MARCH >

I just don’t do that. I don’t wear “Free Pimp C” shirts just because the next nigga got it on. he did the crime let that nigga do his time.

So why would I wear black when my question is why is this kid still locked up while we are marching for his freedom. This wouldn’t be such a big sensation if son was out of jail but its almost like they want to keep him there just for drama effect.
September 20, 2007 @ 3:05 pm
“All white jury because no black people answered the jury selection”

September 20, 2007 @ 3:05 pm
Ihadno
Jason Whitlock be on some bullshit but thats where I got most of my info about this subject….

“All white jury because no black people answered the jury selection”
Exactly…people only give you one side of the shit.
September 20, 2007 @ 3:11 pm
And i am supposed to march and wear black for that ????
Nah homie. I am guilty of it also. I don’t vote as much as I should. I don’t ever answer them jury duty questionaires. I do my part in the downfall of the race and I take responsibility in that. I take accountability for everything that happens to me. So I look at the world in the same light. If you are out there robbing and doing dumb shit, don’t expect my remorse when the cops catch up with you and beat the skin off of you. If you wanna get up and march for injustice, put you money where you march is if you got it.

An thats why we be on the losing side..cause its usually alot of talk and not enough action. If we showed our strenghth in Dollars people would kick our ass..

Its not every social injustice that calls for money or donations. When Sean Bell got shot, I was at the 103rd precinct in support. I went to his wake because that shit hit home. I’ve been to that strip club. It happened 5 blocks down from my brothers house. That same train that got hit by a stray was repaired at my site. I donated $100 to his childrens fund that was set up.I was surprised that I even went out like that but it felt personal with Sean Bell because that could have been me or any of my homies.
But its been almost 11 months and we done moved on. It ain’t front page news no more. Sharpton has moved on to his next conquest. Its like a merry go round and nothing ever comes out of it other than another issue.
September 20, 2007 @ 3:51 pm
Jason Whitlock is still an ass.
Although he makes good points, I’m sure he only wrote what he wrote in an attempt to ’stick it’ to Al Sharpton et al.
September 20, 2007 @ 3:54 pm
And with all the ‘exposing’ of facts Whitlock did, he left out the part where the white student pulled a shotgun on the kid who got jumped at the party, and didn’t get any charges.
Dude is a trip.

President Bush, asked about the Jena case during a news conference, said he understood the emotions and the FBI was monitoring the situation.
“The events in Louisiana have saddened me,” the president said. “All of us in America want there to be, you know, fairness when it comes to justice.”
THIS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES….THIS IS WHO WE ALLOWED TO RUN OUR COUNTRY……….
