Piggybacking off of KSH's post about the music industry…
I found something interesting over at huffingtonpost.com about Angelina Jolie playing a racially mixed women in her latest film "A Mighty Heart", a story about the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan. On film.
Have YOU seen the commercials for the movie (and the crazy wig action)?
Did you KNOW the women she's portraying is mixed?
I didn't realize the movie was the story of Daniel Pearl. Forgot his wife was mixed. Really hadn't thought much about it (besides the 'WTF is up wit that wig!!??' )
But apparently, 'The Blacks' are making a stink about a white broad portraying a 'sista' on film.
Why not Halle, Thandie, Jeniffer Beals…(
seriously, someone is quoted as asking that question)?
So I put it to ya'll…
are we, as black people, stuck on stupid about race?

I knew she was mixed but I didnt know if was a story about Daniel Pearl…
As far as people being mad Angie’s playing her, um……. its called ACTING people!
They whine about black folks playin drug dealers and gangsters.
They whine about black folks and white love interests.
They whine cause Denzel had to be a dirty cop and Halle had to be wit Billy Bob in order to win an Oscar.
What the hell in the world will make yall happy, black people? Get your bitching life together

I don’t think it’s stupid to expect that a biopic about a mixed woman have a you know, mixed woman portraying her…it wouldn’t make sense for Corretta Scott King to be played by Meryl Streep, you know? lol I mean, I’m sure she’d give it her best shot and the woman can act, but naw.
re the wig: did you see what she looked like while she was going through all that? her hair really did look that jacked lol.

‘her hair really did look that jacked lol’
First of all, I will add your name to our reservations at Rick James’ Karaoke Shack.
But on the real, Marianne Pearl is actually Afro-Cuban/Dutch-jew. With French birthright.
Not exactly ‘mixed’ in the normal sense we usually think of.
And..According to Marianne, she wanted Angelia to play her.
And despite ‘knowing’ that, people are still complaining. Even going so far as to suggest that it isn’t true, or that Jennifer Aniston was gonna get the part until Angelina ‘fucked her way into the role’.
Shit is getting outta hand.

Thats my main beef. People will find whatever they can to gripe about. They aint never happy. Its to the point that when something is a valid dispute, it has no fucken weight cause they always bitchin bout something.
And can we please not cast Halle in every fucken role where we need ‘representation’ PLEASE? She aint the only black actress out there either and IMO, she isnt even close to being one of the best.

If she does a good job I really don’t care
there’s some of us that take the sht to far and it makes us look bad
granted yeah the opportunity would have really benefitted someone black
but to keep it real
if another sister play’d the role no one would go see it.
White people would feel like its not for them unless it got oscar raves then they might take a chance on it.
and we know black folk ain’t good at supportin our own sht either
so be glad the story gettin told and a larger audience will get to see it. they didn’t pick just anyone Angelina a A list celeb. And has done more for Africa than almost everyone not named Oprah or Dikembe Motumbo. Plus Angelina she got some big ass lips and nice tit-tays. People need to shut the fk up

yeah, it could have gone to a mixed actress… but so fuckin what? if she was teh ‘best’ for the job and they can back it beilivable physically.. then what is the problem?
yeah, meryl playing corretta is out of line.. but with something like that- just shut it up. if they made a movie about me, they would cast a latino chick, not a mixed chick. and a pureto rican playing selena. get the fuck over it.

‘take all that shit, mix it up in a bag, and it still comes out black and white lol.’
And sometimes that’s the problem…
how are we complaining about racism, when we’ll be the first ones to complain about not looking or being ‘black’ enough to do this that or the other. (I’m sometimes guilty of that too)
But I’m really starting to think that it’s become more trouble than its worth to make noise about every little thing.
I just need a month without us lookin towards the white man as soon as someone’s feelings get hurt over the lack of a nigrah being involved.
And I said nigrah.
Now, if a white man calls me a nigrah, then I’m screamin racism.

I was like damn Black folk STOP this shit!
This lady is mixed with about 4 races - get the hell up outta here. Angie is a good actress - but Brad is producing the film and the wife handpiked Angie to do it. Brad has been working on this story since his Bennifer days - but dayum Black peeps need to quit it!
And yeah that wig is jacked up but Mrs. Pearl’s hair looks just like it…lol
Now speaking of movies - I watched Denzel & Paula Patton in "Deja Vu" - I love me some love story/sci fi shit - it don’t get no better than that! How is Denzel? This nigga is fine as HELL!
