SOHH Over It!

Day-O…Da ay ay O!

April 27, 2007 willyjsimmons

What a week for HIPHOP.

I mean damn.

After cruising the net and seeing what I could see, I feel the need to provide the blogging balance thats missing from the various issues and discussions going on at the moment.

Cam'Ron was on 60 Minutes last Sunday. We talked about it briefly here, but I swear his segment in the show was sohh minor…I knew the talkers would talk.

Again, The Rucker! And a police report.

Now, The Smoking Gun is usually a good place to find official documents concerning celebs and what-not.  But they've taken a rather personal approach to Cam and his appearance on 60 Minutes.  Before the smoke had even cleared, they ran out and dug up Cam's statement to the police from the incident at The Rucker.

Except…Cam doesn't identify anyone. (Read: Doesn't Snitch)

On the other side is Cam's statement he issued clarifying his remarks on the show.

The consensus is that Cam is 'fake'. (Surprise!)

But we don't wanna play the 'fake rapper' game.  Do we?   I guarantee 99.9% of those criticizing Cam, won't want to examine the intentions of their 'favorite' rappers.  It won't happen.

For example, examine the response when Hov and 'Kingdom Come' get thrown under the bus.

It's not pretty.

Also in that post, RZA claims that the Mighty WU never 'promoted' thuggery…

**crickets**

C'mon Rakeem!

Please tell me Raekwon and Ghost don't rap about cocaine. (Fishscale being one of the dopest 'cocaine rap' albums in a while)

I'm waiting.

Which leads me back to my point of playing the 'fake rapper' game.

Which lyrics are we going to disect, verify, then certify as 'dry snitchin' , 'snitchin' , 'faking the funk' , 'flat out lies'?

What exactly constitutes 'real talk'?

Which of our favorite rappers from the past 'trumped up' their 'image' to garner the respect of the HIPHOP community?

I'll repeat my opinion that it's 'just music', and fans should listen to what moves them.

That political, anti-establishment, revolutionary type shit is easy to identify, and stands on it's own.

Now listen to P.E. disrespect women folk:
