My Certificate

Well Fuck It.

After reading today's blog entry from 'My Best Friend'(take two seconds, and think about it), it occurred to me that this individual has lost it.

It PAINS me having to revisit this issue for the 50-11th time this week/month/year but hell.  There comes a point when one (me) has to throw on his cape and mask, and BATTERANG these lunatics.

Because I know niggaz don't like to read, I'll break this down with as few words as possible. (Shit, I know some of ya'll are already exhausted, so take 5 and come back…

Click 'Read More' for the slow people…

Let me just throw it out there…HIPHOP is DEAD is NOT the best album of 2006.

HIPHOP is DEAD is NOT a classic album either.  Go ahead and pout it out!

I'm not even going to address why HIPHOP is DEAD is an abject failure of an album conceptually.  Today, I'll just stick to a choice quote.

And so it begins with today's meme (look it up):

Although it sucks to not have crazy, crazy radio support, this just helped to prove Nas' point: bring rap back to where it was, when radio didn't matter so much.

Now c'mon.

First of all, radio spins DO NOT directly correlate to album sales. (see Cassie, Jessica Simpson and any number of artists who managed nationwide radio play, and still flopped)

But isn't it funny how numbers don't matter, unless its your favorite rapper sitting in the #1 spot.  At which point the 'numbers' are used to vindicate the position that HIPHOP is DEAD?  Nevermind that the numbers aren't even the highest of the year, or even the highest on his own label. How does that work?  I guess it must require one to completely ignore who else is signed to that label, and the methods used to promote their albums.  Confusing right?

Niggaz must not like irony either…

Secondly, with lines like I'll put an extended clip inside of my AK Roll to every station, murder the DJ, who in their right minds realistically thought Nas would get that 'radio love' we're talking about?

Dead Prez spits about AKs too, and…yeah, they don't get massive radio play either.  Who woulda thunk it?

You make a single critical of radio, and radio stations don't play it? Well damn, must take a genius to accomplish that feat.

Nas must be right, cuz his album sold without the help of radio?  Like Nas didn't have almost 12 months of anticipation, hype, and massive web promotion to help his cause?  But don't forget, numbers don't matter anywayz?

So the reaction to Nas' sales would be the same regardless if he had sold 1 or 1 million?  HIPHOP would have STILL been DEAD either way right?

Fuckin liars.

The only way for Nas stans to save face at this point, is to ignore the success of everyone else, as if Nas lives in a fuckin vacuum of HIPHOP purity.

But for a moment, lets dig a lil deeper in the song.

Rich ass niggaz is ridin' with three llamas.

Will one of you 'HIPHOP purist' please explain this line? I DOUBLE DARE you.

Any ghetto will tell ya Nas helped grow us up
My face once graced promotional Sony trucks
Hundred million in billin', I helped build 'em up

So, Nas brags about being a part of HIPHOP's commercialization of the 90's, i.e. part of the problem more on this in a second.

Kidnappings, project buildings, drug dealings
Criticize that, why is that?
Cuz Nas rap is compared to legitimized crap

Hear that Jeezy, Nas can rap about 'ghetto life', but NOT you. Why are YOU fuckin up the game Jeezy? You must not know Nas is the only one capable of spitting 'real talk' in that 'real HIPHOP' kinda way. Duh.

So you can't blame jazz musicians
Or David Stern with his NBA fashion issues

There goes Nas forgetting his history again. Jazz musicians, shitted on HIPHOP from DAY ONE. Said it wasn't 'real music' right along with the rest of mainstream America. God bless Herbie Hancock. And David Stern? Who gives a fuck if a David Stern doesn't like HIPHOP. When did David Stern EVER like HIPHOP, unless he was using it to promote the NBA back when A.I. came into the league? Think on it, real hard.

Everybody sound the same, commercialize the game
Reminiscin' when it wasn't all busines

Nas must suffer from short term memory loss. Cuz just a couple of verses ago, he was tellin us how he used to be part of the 'problem'. Remind me again what Nas was think riding around on a flatbed truck with Lauryn Hill doing a remake of someone else's classic shit? Nas is the pinnacle of creativity NOW? Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida?

From gold cables to Jacobs

Huh HuhHuh

Gold cables with gaudy ass Egyptian head pieces are 'the flavor' now?

And fucked up leather get-ups too…

Huh

Funny ass nigga. I'm done. I won't be speakin on this shit again.  Evar.

**EDITED for layout.

**UPDATE**

Fuckin fool.  Nigga just sittin there lookin confused as fuck ain't he? Females look kinda bored too.  Must of been anticipating 2006?  Huh Nas?

You are something serious! But I totally agree about the numbers game though! Numbers only matter when your dude is the #1 sopt for the week!

But I like the Nas album - but it was not the BEST of the year - some of the most underated and muber lacking album were the best for me - The Roots, Clipse, Lupe, - I can’t make up my m ind but this was some of the less commercialized hiphop in a while!

Nas and Jay good try but HipHop was rocking before you sropped - not on Billboard but as far as substance - The Roots, Clipse, Lupe knocked it out for me.
