So I ate quick and rushed my ass out to see the movie. Excited as hell to see it. I guess with all the buzz I was left with a little feeling of "this shit was way overdone" - damn a simple story was made into I not so simple story. Now that stroy was a complicated one but it had a simple message that all of us old heads have known for decades - it was too much for me… -
Eddie Murphy - was the absolute best in the film hands down! He and Anika Rose worked perfectly together! That grl was on some other shit. Broadway ain't for everybody so this grl is AMAZING! Anika Rose is that woman - she was so real!
Beyonce - was good. She was Diana. She was a bit over done to me but maybe b/c this entire year and last year she has flooded the masses - I cringed most of the movie b/c I guess I can not take anymore of this girl. That is the only downfall with her and Jamie Foxx - overexposed already makes the movie seem - TOO MUCH!
Jennifer Hudson for her first time she did a wonderful job. I think the movie was made for her. She had the best storyline and the best character of the movie but her singing now is totally different from her singing on American Idol - check the tape you will see why she needed some seasoning!
I have seen video of the original - and this is a good flick to modernize it but the original was 5 stars this is 3.5 stars for me.

For reals? I can see that. I’ve never seen the original, so I have no idea what to speak on other than the ‘real life’ story of the Supremes.
I think you hit on the ‘beef’ Diana has had with Dreamgirls from the beginning.
She doesn’t come out lookin like the ‘most talented’ one of the group.

Yeah Diana kinda knows that she kinda had a made up existence - she really was acting like a lead singer the beginning of her life.
She really was a background singer but she had that superstar look. And of course peeps gonna say you can sing when shit they running a propaganda machine to convince people that you really can sing. Aint much different today. If you got the look the we can make it look like you can really sing - then when you LEARN how to sing then you will already have a fanbase.
Now Diana is coming out with a CD in the January - she acting like she did not agree with Dreamgirls but she knows how to use that propaganda - if she learned anything she learned any publicity is good publicity!
