Let me just say that it was a total coincidence that I happened to listen to Young Jeezy after listening to Lupe.

Man was THAT a mistake.  But not for the reasons you might be thinking of…life is NEVER that simple or easy.

Unlike the Lupe review, this one will be much shorter. (Again, not for the reasons you may be hoping for) The Inspiration is a project of a totally different nature than Food & Liquor. They really cannot be compared concept wise…except to compare the EXECUTION of those concepts.

And its the execution of Jeezy's album that is REALLY causing a dilemma for me right now.

Is Jeezy an 'ill spitter' like Lupe, no.

But…(and ya'll know how much I love big butts)

something must be wrong with me.  My insides. My Soul.

Maybe I expected too much from Lupe's album?  What, I dunno? Perfection? Naw.  I suppose I expected Food & Liquor to be 'on par' with some of the albums I consider to be 'the best' of 2006.

The conflict we have I think is one of substance vs. style. Lyrics vs. production.  Not-so-jammin vs. jammin. (I said 'jammin', now New Jack Swing yo ass on)

Let me ask another question…do I just like that 'ignorant shit'?  Must every emcee show a 'conscientious' side to their lyrics in order to be in the 'game' and be 'respected' by the dirty backpacker 'real HIPHOP' folks of the world?

I suggest you really think about those questions before answering.

Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor

Oh now.  Backpackers might wanna just kill themselves without even reading this. First of all, let me just say I fully 'understand' where Lupe is coming from in terms of the actual content of his verses.  Lupe can spit.  Lupe is an 'ill spitter'.  We all understand each other on those points.(Sounds like Jay-Z here and there, but whatever)

Now here is where I must give the 'constructive' criticism of the album overall, and where some of you might just disagree.  We can do that here and not catch feelings…right…yes?

I'm gonna leave the 'Co-Executive Producer' out of this…except to say the track featuring said person is arguably the most 'typical' sounding track on the album. Again, this probably comes down to a matter of preference and his verse isn't the hottest thing I've ever heard.

'1st and 15th, that's my cue, brew', awwwwwww whatever man.

Let me preface this by sayin (yes, the preface starts now, te he he he), I've posted Digable Planets on this very site myself.  I like all types of HIPHOP.  Love it.  But I've just got to get it off my chest.

The album is disappointing.

Dare I say boring at some points.  As good of a lyricist as Lupe is…bejeezus some parts of the album are just killin me.  I don't understand it.  Why??  Normally I'd blame the white man, the industry, Young Jeezy, but damn I can't even do it this time.

So…

Styles P gets cutoff by another driver. Angry, he returns the favor, but the 'funny' doesn't stop there. Oh NOOOOO!

This nigga, decided to get out of his car…and throw NAPKINS at the other driver's windshield. The driver in question, 54 yr old John Henson, decides to hit Styles with his truck resulting in a broken leg for one of NY's finest emcees.

Shoulda stayed home and smoked another blunt my nig.

I'm not exactly sure if HIPHOP is DEAD (NOT! see BORAT already?), but this is the shit to make a nigga wanna just quit it and learn to play the banjo or some such shit.

Monie Love has quit WPHI 100.3 FM in Philly.

The station says that her contract was up, and she decided to step on her own, noting that the situation had nothing to do with Young Jeezy's appearance on her show a couple of weeks ago. (even though she was no longer on the radio within the same week)

I can't call it.

Damn how many times have you looked back and wished you had kept him? How many women do you know that always go for the guy that will bust them upside the head and then walk all over the nice guy?

My issue was I do not like doormats. I don't like someone that believes everything I say and I don't like someone that thinks they must be with me 24 hours a day. I have an issue with my space being my space - I am a pretty much calm individual but my biggest turn off in a relationship is when someone wants to smother me like a fried pork chop!

What is it about a doormat that make your attitude change in a relationship? Do bad boys really get all the girls? If there is a fine line, where is it?
